Pic_Hemmo Laiho

Hemmo Laiho received his PhD in philosophy from University of Turku in 2012 upon completion of his award-winning thesis Perception in Kant’s Model of Experience. Besides Kant and history of philosophy, his research interests include philosophy of perception and aesthetics. He has taught philosophy of art at TUAS Arts Academy and conducted research in University of California, first at UCLA, and then, as a Fulbright scholar, at UC San Diego. Currently, he works as a university teacher in the Department of Philosophy, Contemporary History and Political Science at University of Turku. Outside academia and family life, he acts as a conductor of an art rock ensemble Johannes Faustus.
