Simo Kellokumpu on koreografi ja jatko-opiskelija Taideyliopiston Teatterikorkeakoulun Esittävien taiteiden tutkimuskeskuksessa. Hänen taiteellinen tutkimusprosessinsa, Contextual Choreography (“kontekstuaalinen koreografia”), keskittyy nimensämukaisesti koreografian ja kontekstin käsitteiden yhteyksiin.
Simo Kellokumpu is a choreographer and a doctorate candidate in Artistic Research in the Performing Arts Research Center at the Theatre Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki. His on-going artistic research – process Contextual Choreography focuses on the relations between the notions of choreography and context. The research process has been shared as artistic proposals, performative lectures, presentations and workshops in places such as Reykjavik Dance Festival (2014), Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2015), The Research Pavilion in Venice Biennale (2015), CARPA the fourth colloquium on Artistic Research in Performing Arts (2015) and SenseLab, Montreal (2016). On 2016 the research process continues in AARK -residency in Korppoo, O Espaço do Tempo residency in Montemor-o-Novo, Ars Bioarctica Residency in Kilpisjärvi and in Critical Path Sydney. One of the artistic processes of the research will be presented in the PSi#22 Performance Climates -conference in Melbourne on July 2016. In autumn 2016 the research will be shared and developed in the Research Ethics and Artistic Freedom in Artistic Research -symposium in Växjö and in Vienna in the Autumn School of Skulptur und Raum:

Uuden tanssin keskus Zodiakissa vuonna 2013 valmistunut taitelijatrion Reset-projekti saapuu Kiasmaan. Kaksi projektista jäljelle jäänyttä teosta liikkuu läpi museotilan 12 tunnin ajan. Tekninen liike yhdistettynä esityksen institutionaaliseen kontekstiin tai dekonstruktiiviseen näyttämöllepanoon ja teosten liikkuminen peräkkäisten ja sattumanvaraisten latenssien sekä siirtymien välillä ilmaistaan hämärällä (vasta-) performatiivisella kynnyksellä. Reset/Résidues #3 on luonteeltaan epäröivä, sekä oikeasta paikasta taiteelleen museotilassa että koko esityksen korrektiudesta yön ohjelman ajastetussa ajassa.
Two residual pieces of the project Reset, realised by the trio of artists at Zodiak, Center for New Dance Helsinki in 2013, are removed throughout the whole museum space during twelve hours. Technical gesture linked to the institutional context where it takes place or deconstructive mise-enscène, the movement of the pieces between successive and random latencies and displacements is displayed on an ambiguous (counter-) performative threshold. Reset/Résidus #4 is indecisive, both of the right place to find for these artworks in the museum space and of the correctness of the proposal itself in the timed time of the programme of that night of performances.
