Max Ryynänen

Max Ryynänen (b. 1972) studied philosophy, aesthetics and semiotics in Helsinki, Pisa, Uppsala and Philadelphia (Temple). He left academic philosophy early to pursue a career in art theory (in the art world), but has lately come back to work on the philosophy of contemporary art and popular culture. Ryynänen works currently as senior lecturer of theory of visual culture and the director of the MA program Visual Culture and Contemporary Art (http://vicca.fi) at Aalto University. He is the editor in chief of the fresh journal Popular Inquiry (https://www.popularinquiry.com/).
